My Story

I've been leading teams for over 18 years

I started working in supermarkets at 15.
I remember looking at the store manager running around, telling everyone what to do, and thinking, “I could never do that.”
Nine years later, I was that store manager.
Along the way, I worked in a bunch of different roles, and that’s where I first got involved in HR.
After achieving some brilliant things, I decided it was time to leave food retail behind. So I set up my own business, a successful print and embroidery company that I ran for seven years.

After that, I joined one of the UK’s largest zoos as a manager. It was wild (literally), but when Covid hit, everything changed, especially in hospitality and tourism.
After leaving the zoo, I took on an operations role at a cleaning company, managing the team day to day.

Then Covid caught me.
I got seriously ill, ended up in hospital, and was wiped out for months.

It made me step back and ask, What do I actually want to do now?
That’s when I made the shift properly into HR. I became a multi-site HR manager for a group of hotels and designed a leadership development programme for their supervisors and managers.
I spent my time travelling across the UK delivering it, and I loved it. Especially those moments where someone would have a light bulb go off mid-workshop.

That’s what I’m all about now. I set up Groberri to help business owners and new managers build confidence, lead their teams well, and stay on the right side of employment law, without the jargon or fluff.

What I actually do

That includes things like:

  • Handling tricky HR issues like absence or disciplinaries

  • Running down-to-earth leadership workshops

  • Coaching supervisors and team leaders to feel more confident

  • Giving honest, practical advice you can actually use

Whether you're firefighting or just want to do things properly, I’ll guide you through it step by step.
